IP Lookup — Get IP Address Information
Check IP address online: geolocation, country, city, ISP, ASN. Find your IP and get detailed information about any IP address.
IP Lookup tool allows you to find detailed information about any IPv4 or IPv6 address. Get data about geolocation, internet service provider, autonomous system number (ASN), timezone, and other IP address characteristics.
IP Address Lookup
💡 Tips
- • Use the "Get My IP Address" button to check your current IP
- • Both IPv4 (e.g., 8.8.8.8) and IPv6 addresses are supported
- • If you're using a VPN, the information will be about the VPN server, not your real location
- • Geolocation may not be 100% accurate - usually city/region is determined
- • ASN (Autonomous System Number) helps identify the network operator
What is IP Lookup and what is it for?
IP Lookup (IP information search) is a tool that allows you to get detailed information about an IP address. Every device connected to the internet has a unique IP address that can be used to determine geographic location, provider, and other technical characteristics.
What information can you find out about an IP address?
- Geolocation — country, region, city, and coordinates (latitude/longitude)
- Provider (ISP) — internet service provider and organization name
- ASN — Autonomous System Number
- Timezone — current timezone and time in that location
- Currency — national currency of the country
- Languages — official languages of the region
Where is IP Lookup used?
- Web Analytics — determining the geography of site visitors
- Security — identifying suspicious IP addresses and VPN/proxy
- Targeting — showing content based on user location
- Network Debugging — diagnosing connection problems
- Fraud Detection — detecting fraudulent activities
- Compliance — adhering to geographic restrictions (GDPR, sanctions)
How does IP Lookup work?
IP Lookup uses geolocation databases that map IP address ranges to physical locations and organizations. These databases are constantly updated by Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) and commercial data providers.
It's important to understand that IP-based geolocation is not always 100% accurate. Accuracy depends on the connection type: for data centers and corporate networks it's usually high (city/region), while for mobile carriers it can be approximate (country).
Privacy and VPN
If you're using a VPN, proxy, or Tor, IP Lookup will show information about the VPN server, not your real location. This is one way to check if your VPN is working.
IPv4 vs IPv6
The tool supports both IP address formats:
- IPv4 — traditional format (e.g., 8.8.8.8)
- IPv6 — new format to solve the address shortage problem (e.g., 2001:4860:4860::8888)
